Step inside a French Victorian mansion and glimpse Memphis life in 1871. The Woodruff Fontaine House Museum stands on the city’s famed Millionaires Row, where preserved interiors, period antiques, and family stories bring the past into view. Explore the home on a self-guided visit across three floors. Learn about Amos Woodruff, the carriage maker who built the house for his family, and Noland Fontaine, the businessman who bought it in 1883. The Fontaine family lived here until 1929. After later serving as part of an art school expansion, the mansion was restored and reopened as a historic house museum in 1961 by the Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities. A visit to the Woodruff Fontaine House Museum offers a closer look at the character and furnishings of a historic Memphis home. The first floor is handicapped accessible, and handicapped bathroom facilities are available in the Carriage House. Free parking is nearby at Washington Avenue and Orleans Street. Take your time among the antiques and discover the stories held within this landmark Memphis home.
