5 days in Oahu: beach time, Pearl Harbor, and a circle island day
Five days in Oahu is enough for a varied first visit without booking every morning and afternoon. Use Waikiki as a base, give the longest outings their own days, and leave space for the ocean conditions and your energy level.

Book only three anchors: Pearl Harbor, an island sightseeing day, and an optional two-hour snorkel outing. Each suggested tour met our 4.0 TourTruth score minimum. Keep arrival and departure days loose; this is a plan of separate activities, not a five-day escorted package.
Day 1: arrive, settle in, and keep Waikiki simple
Use the first day to get from the airport to your accommodation, unpack, and learn the short routes around your hotel. A beach walk and a relaxed meal are enough. Leave any swimming decision to the conditions and posted guidance when you arrive.
Do not anchor this day to a nonrefundable afternoon departure. Flight delays, baggage, and check-in can turn a comfortable-looking gap into a missed tour. If you arrive early, the extra time is a bonus rather than something the itinerary needs to work.
Day 2: Pearl Harbor, with the ticket details sorted
The Honolulu Pearl Harbor and City Tour offers transport from selected hotels and driver commentary. Our collected record has no single duration; the current provider page lists roughly five to nine hours depending on the option. Decide how much of Pearl Harbor you want to visit before adding anything else to this day.
The base experience and upgrades are different purchases. The provider describes USS Arizona admission through advance or on-site tickets; USS Missouri and aviation-museum admission are tied to upgraded options. Confirm the selected package, reservation arrangement, pickup, and return time before paying.
The National Park Service distinguishes access to the visitor center and grounds from the timed USS Arizona Memorial program. Independent visitors should use the official reservation guidance and Recreation.gov. The memorial program itself is free apart from a reservation service charge; a commercial tour bundles other services.
Leave the rest of the day flexible. A shorter option may leave time for a meal back in Honolulu; a longer museum package can use most of the day. Water, transport, and a guide do not imply food is included, and boat operations can affect memorial access.

Choose the Pearl Harbor package that fits your interests and available day.
Check first: Arizona ticket arrangement and extra museum admissions depend on option.

Give the Circle Island and Haleiwa Tour a whole day. Its nine-hour listing includes a driver-guide, bottled water, a bus restroom, pickup and drop-off, and a poi malasada tasting. Lunch is excluded, so plan a separate food budget.
Confirm the pickup location rather than assuming door-to-door collection. A Waikiki base is useful for many tours, but the exact hotel coverage and pickup time depend on the selected departure. Keep dinner flexible because traffic and the route can affect the return.
If Waimea Valley or Byodo-In Temple is the reason you want an island tour, compare those routes before booking this one. A longer list of stops is not automatically a better day; look for the main place where you want time outside the vehicle.

A full island sightseeing day with the driving handled for you.
Check first: Lunch excluded; confirm pickup coverage.

The Waikiki Turtle Canyon Snorkel Boat Tour lists two hours, snorkeling equipment and instruction, juices and soda, a shaded cabin, and a marine bathroom. Hotel pickup, towels, parking, and prescription-mask rental are excluded. Check the exact meeting point and boarding instructions instead of assuming departure from the beach nearest your hotel.
This operator explicitly requires basic swimming ability and says the activity is not recommended for pregnant travelers or people with spinal injuries. Ask about entering and leaving the boat and the conditions for your departure. Instruction and flotation support do not turn it into a suitable activity for every non-swimmer.
Keep the afternoon unbooked for lunch, rest, or a change of plan. Turtle sightings are possible, not a promised part of the ticket. If a water outing is not right for your group, skip it and spend the day in Honolulu at your own pace.

Choose a nearby breakfast and one short outing that you can end easily. Confirm checkout, luggage storage, and airport transport before going anywhere farther away. This plan intentionally avoids a long cross-island trip on departure day.
If you have five full days plus separate travel days, turn this into a genuine spare day instead. Revisit a favorite place, add one activity you care about, or keep it free as a weather buffer. There is no need to buy a fourth tour just to fill the itinerary.
Decide where a car actually helps
You do not need a rental car for the circle-island day if your booking includes suitable pickup. The Pearl Harbor tour also lists selected hotel pickups, whereas the snorkel outing excludes hotel transfers. Arrange those journeys individually and compare their cost with a rental day and parking.
This itinerary is built for a Waikiki or central Honolulu base. If you stay on the North Shore or elsewhere on Oahu, revisit every pickup assumption and allow for the transfer to the departure point. Do not add those journeys to the plan as if they were a short hotel walk.
Before you go
Is five days enough for Oahu?
Five days allows a focused first visit with one island sightseeing day, Pearl Harbor, and beach or water time. It is not enough to treat every part of the island as a quick extra; choose a few priorities.
Is this a five-day tour package?
No. These are separate activities linked through a suggested itinerary. Accommodation, meals, airport transfers, and transport not explicitly included in an individual booking remain separate.
Should I reserve the snorkel outing on the last day?
Prefer an earlier day when possible, with time afterward for changes. A cancellation or delayed return is harder to manage beside a fixed departure flight.

We checked TourTruth’s normalized scores and collected tour listings on October 18, 2026. Every directly recommended tour met a minimum 4.0/5 TourTruth score; that is our score, not a provider’s raw star rating. We compared durations, inclusions, exclusions, and practical restrictions, with current provider checks where noted. Scores and listings can change.
