Viator vs GetYourGuide: same tours, different prices
Many tours are sold on both Viator and GetYourGuide by the same local operator. We compared 630 of them, listing for listing, to see which site is cheaper and whether the ratings agree.

The short answer
Neither site is reliably cheaper. For about half of the tours we compared the two prices were within 5% of each other; when they differed by 10% or more, the typical gap was $10.99. GetYourGuide came out cheaper somewhat more often, but Viator was cheaper for a large share of tours too. If a tour is on both, check both before you book.
Ratings agree more than prices do. For 1,951 tours with at least 20 reviews on each site, the average rating was 4.66 on Viator and 4.64 on GetYourGuide. Both are inflated: most tours are rated between 4.5 and 5.0 on either site (see the rating inflation index).

How to get the better deal
- Find the tour on both sites. TourTruth tour pages list every site that sells a tour, with its rating and a link. Search the operator's name on the other site if you only see one.
- Compare the same option. Check that the duration, group size and inclusions match: a private version or a longer option is a different product.
- Read the cancellation terms. They are set per listing and can differ between the two sites for the same tour.
- Judge the tour, not the stars. A 4.9 with 12 reviews says less than a 4.7 with 3,000. The TourTruth score weights ratings by review count for this reason.

Neither is cheaper across the board. For 630 tours listed on both sites with the same duration, GetYourGuide was at least 5% cheaper 25.9% of the time, Viator 14.1%, and the prices were within 5% of each other 60% of the time. Check both before you book.

For the same tour, ratings are close: across 1,951 tours with 20+ reviews on both, the average was 4.66 on Viator and 4.64 on GetYourGuide. The rating was at least 0.2 stars higher on Viator for 16% of tours and on GetYourGuide for 13.5%.
