San Antonio river cruises: what to check before you book
A San Antonio River Walk cruise can be a short outing or one part of a longer guided day. On November 2, 2026, only one tour in our catalog that includes a cruise reached the TourTruth score we require for a recommendation, which is too few to compare. So this guide does not recommend a tour. It covers what to check instead, using GO RIO’s official information.

GO RIO describes its narrated cruise as a 35-minute trip, running daily from 10am to 10pm during most of the year, weather permitting. If you only want the cruise, start with the official terms. If you are looking at a longer package, compare the total hours, the walking, and what is excluded, and ask which operator runs the cruise.
Start with the official cruise details
GO RIO describes its narrated River Walk tours as 35-minute trips on electric barges with a guide. Its classic route starts from La Villita and passes landmarks including Old Mill Crossing, Selena’s Bridge, the Hyatt Regency, and the Briscoe Western Art Museum. It also lists Spanish-language and seasonal River North tours on selected dates, so check that yours is running.
GO RIO says its narrated cruises operate daily from 10am to 10pm during most of the year and are open year-round, weather permitting. It warns that rainy weather may cancel cruises. Allow extra time around the 35 minutes to reach the dock and wait to board.
See GO RIO narrated tours ↗Know how boarding works
GO RIO lists three ticket booth and boarding locations: Rivercenter at 809 E River Walk, Historia at 706 River Walk, and Aztec at 731 River Walk. It says you can board at any of them, and that its tour tickets are not specific to a location, date, or time.
Those terms describe GO RIO’s own tickets. A ticket sold through another site may have different rules, so read the ticket you are buying. If the seller does not name the operator, ask before you plan around it. Parking is separate; GO RIO points visitors to the garages, lots, and meters downtown.
Check GO RIO visitor information ↗Read a longer package closely
Some tours combine a cruise with a guided city walk and admissions. One listing we collected names a narrated GO RIO cruise ticket, reserved Alamo Church entry, and Tower of the Americas admission over 3 to 4 hours. That is the time for the full package, not time on the water, and it does not make the cruise itself any longer.
Check the walking. That listing gives about two miles over uneven pavement, ramps, and elevators, plus 15 to 20 minutes of standing at some stops, and says it is not recommended for travelers who cannot manage that. It also excludes food, drinks, parking, gratuities, and transport to the meeting point. If you already hold Alamo or Tower plans, check whether a package repeats them.
Choose by time, walking, and what is included
A cruise on its own leaves the rest of the day to you. A package suits you only if you want its whole route and can manage its walking and standing. Decide which you want first, then compare specific tickets.
Neither format makes a cruise a dining experience or a transfer from your hotel, unless your ticket says so. The list below ranks current river cruise tours by TourTruth score, and being listed there is not a recommendation. Read the operator, boarding point, and weather terms for whichever ticket you choose.

We searched the TourTruth catalog for San Antonio cruises on November 2, 2026, and read GO RIO’s official narrated-tour and visitor pages that day for trip length, hours, docks, and ticket terms. Recommended tours must have a TourTruth score of at least 8.1/10, which is our score and not a provider’s star rating. Only one tour with a cruise reached it, so this guide recommends none; the page shows current scores. Package details describe one listing in our collected records as an example and are not a recommendation. GO RIO’s terms apply to its own service. This is researched planning advice, not a first-hand account.
TourTruth aggregates listings and does not operate these tours. Prices, schedules, menus, and pickup arrangements can change. We may earn a commission if you book through a provider link on a tour page. About our ratings and approach.
