Explore Alaska’s rugged backcountry by 4x4, then kayak on a remote glacier lake during this full-day adventure from Anchorage.
About this tour
Trade paved roads and busy viewpoints for a full day in Alaska’s rugged backcountry. The Anchorage glacier kayaking tour pairs a 4x4 off-road adventure with time on a remote glacier lake, taking you into terrain that standard tours cannot reach.
Travel by 4x4 through wild landscapes before heading out by kayak on the lake. The combination offers two distinct ways to experience Alaska in one outing: a rugged ride across remote terrain and a closer look at a glacier lake rarely visited by typical tourists. Kayak and all fees and taxes are included, and public transportation options are available nearby.
This experience calls for moderate physical fitness and may not suit travelers with spinal injuries, pregnant travelers, or those with poor cardiovascular health. Infants must sit on an adult’s lap. Choose the Anchorage glacier kayaking tour for a hands-on day away from paved roads and crowds, and experience Alaska’s wild side from both land and water.

How this score is calculated
This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 25 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.
How the score works and rating distribution in Anchorage
- Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
- Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
- Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
- The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 8.2. Top 17% in Anchorage means it ranks in the top 17% of tours in Anchorage by this score.
