Search Anchorage skies for the northern lights with guides using aurora forecasts, weather tools, and private transportation.

About this tour

Set out from Anchorage on a northern lights search guided by nightly research, Kp indexes, and weather tracking. Because aurora activity and local conditions can shift, the departure time varies to better match the forecast.

Your guides lead the way to vantage points in search of the lights, sharing celestial stories and explaining the data behind the evening’s quest. Private transportation and bottled water are provided. The experience lasts about three hours, but sightings are never guaranteed: the aurora and weather remain beyond anyone’s control, and no refunds or credits are offered if the lights are not seen or appear too faint. Reservations include multi-evening coverage and may be used for one evening.

Join this Anchorage Northern Lights Sightseeing tour for a forecast-led evening outdoors, and see what the sky reveals.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.17 from 35 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Anchorage
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 5.7.
