Cruise from downtown Annapolis to Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse for Chesapeake views, wildlife, and stories of the keepers who lived there.

About this tour

Set out from downtown Annapolis for a narrated cruise to Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse, one of Maryland’s most iconic maritime landmarks. As the city gives way to the open Chesapeake Bay, pass the U.S. Naval Academy and watch for osprey, blue herons, bald eagles, and other waterfowl.

This 90-minute Annapolis Thomas Point Lighthouse Cruise brings history and scenery together. Learn how the lighthouse helped guide Chesapeake navigation and hear what life was like for the keepers, known as “wickis,” who lived at this remote outpost. Get a closer look at the National Historic Landmark, often described as the most photographed lighthouse on the Chesapeake, and bring a camera for the view. Enjoy the fresh air on deck or settle into the climate-controlled main deck aboard a Watermark yacht. Restrooms are available on board.

Whether you’re drawn by lighthouse history or simply want time on the water, the Annapolis Thomas Point Lighthouse Cruise offers an easygoing way to experience the bay. Arrive early, find your spot, and enjoy the journey out to this remarkable beacon.

How this score is calculated

This tour scores 4.75 on Viator and 4.63 on GetYourGuide. Ratings on these sites cluster near the top of the 5-star scale, so we compare each one with all other ratings on the same site before combining them.

How the score works and rating distribution in Annapolis
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.1.
