Explore Asheville’s Appalachian roots, historic streets, and mountain views on a three-hour guided open-air Jeep tour.

About this tour

See Asheville’s history unfold from the open-air seat of a safari-style Jeep. This three-hour guided Asheville City Tour by Open-Air Jeep pairs mountain scenery with stories of the people and events that shaped Western North Carolina.

Travel through historic streets with a knowledgeable local guide as you explore Asheville’s Appalachian roots, early pioneers, and Gilded Age past. Hear about the city’s connection to F. Scott Fitzgerald, mountain families, moonshiners, and the resilience that carried Asheville through the economic hardship following the 1929 financial collapse. The route also includes a historic mansion described by the provider as not being the Biltmore Estate, along with views and landmarks that bring the city’s story into focus.

The open-air Jeep offers a distinctive way to see the city, with enclosed and heated configurations available in cooler months. Complimentary water and light snacks are provided, and blankets, rain ponchos, or hiking poles are available for comfort. Join an Asheville City Tour by Open-Air Jeep to connect the scenery with the stories behind it.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. GetYourGuide rates it 5.00 from 4 reviews. We place that rating among all GetYourGuide ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Asheville
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.3. Top 42% in Asheville means it ranks in the top 42% of tours in Asheville by this score.
