Explore the Big Island at your own pace with GPS-triggered audio stories, scenic route guidance, and lifetime access for everyone in your car.

About this tour

Discover the Big Island on a flexible drive shaped by coastal scenery, lush landscapes, and stories of Hawaiʻi’s past. This self-guided Big Island driving tour turns your own car into a private listening experience, with GPS-triggered audio that plays as you follow the route.

Download the tour in the separate Tour Guide app by Action while connected to Wi-Fi or strong cellular service. Then use the route maps, area previews, and audio stories to explore at your own pace. Stop for a beach visit, hike, picnic, or photo whenever you like, and pick up the tour again when you’re ready. Along the way, hear about Hawaiian history and culture, discover hidden gems, and learn about places including ancient burial grounds. The tour works offline after download, and one purchase covers everyone in your car. You can use it anytime, with lifetime access.

Plan roughly 1–2 days for the full route. Check current road conditions and attraction hours before setting out; some stops have separate admission or parking fees, and reservations may be needed. Set off on the Big Island driving tour whenever it suits you and let the island’s stories guide the way.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.08 from 53 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Big Island of Hawaii
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 5.2.
