Explore craters, steam vents, lava tube, and rugged flows on a private Hawaii Volcanoes National Park tour with a local guide.

About this tour

Explore the raw, changing landscapes of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on a private tour that brings you close to the island’s volcanic story. Meet your guide at Kilauea Visitor Center, then travel by modified Ford F-150 toward the summit of Kilauea.

Pause at an overlook above Halemaʻumaʻu Crater, see steam vents, and explore Nahuku, also known as Thurston Lava Tube. Depending on volcanic activity, you may visit an overlook for a view of active lava; the walk is about 1 mile each way. Continue along Chain of Craters Road, stopping to explore past lava flows and other favorite park spots. The route may also include cooled lava and rainforest scenery.

With a private group of up to four, you can take in the sights at a personal pace while your driver-guide shares the landscape’s highlights. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park tours run rain or shine, so come prepared for changing conditions. Book your private tour to experience the park’s dramatic terrain up close.
