Explore North Cascades mountain scenery and local history with GPS-triggered audio stories on a flexible, self-guided drive.
About this tour
Take the scenic road through Washington’s North Cascades, where snow-capped peaks rise above rushing rivers and deep green forests. This self-guided North Cascades driving audio tour pairs the mountain views with stories that bring the region’s past into focus.
Begin at the suggested starting point in Darrington or join the route wherever it suits your trip. GPS-triggered audio plays automatically as you drive, sharing local history, travel tips, and tales of Native tribes, early logging communities, and helicopter-skiing daredevils. Follow the route on the app, then pause whenever you want to hike, picnic, take photos, or linger at a scenic stop. Download the tour in advance and listen offline; one purchase covers everyone in your car, and lifetime access lets you revisit it on future trips.
Bring your own vehicle and phone, and check attraction hours separately since this tour does not include admission. Set out at your own pace and let the North Cascades driving audio tour add context and character to the journey.

How this score is calculated
This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.67 from 3 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.
How the score works and rating distribution in Chelan
- Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
- Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
- Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
- The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.0.
