Snorkel alongside manatees in Crystal River, then race through Homosassa’s backwaters on an airboat while watching for dolphins.

About this tour

Meet the gentle giants of Florida’s waterways, then trade your snorkel for an airboat ride through the wild backwaters. This Crystal River manatee snorkel and dolphin airboat tour pairs an in-water wildlife experience with a high-speed journey on the Homosassa River.

Begin at Manatee Tour Center with a guided, three-hour swim. Before entering the water, learn snorkeling tips and how to interact passively with manatees. With a guide alongside you, explore an estuary alive with fish, birds, and other wildlife. Wetsuits, snorkel masks, water, and coffee or tea are provided. The airboat portion lasts 1.5 hours and takes you through Homosassa’s mangroves, canals, and backwaters, with opportunities to spot dolphins and other wildlife. Ear protection is supplied for the ride.

The two activities leave from separate locations, so plan your own transportation between them. The airboat trip depends on weather, while the manatee swim runs rain or shine except in severe conditions. Choose this Crystal River manatee snorkel and dolphin airboat tour for two distinct ways to experience Florida’s waterways in one outing.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. GetYourGuide rates it 4.90 from 20 reviews. We place that rating among all GetYourGuide ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Crystal River
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 8.0. Top 37% in Crystal River means it ranks in the top 37% of tours in Crystal River by this score.
