Snorkel Crystal River’s Gulf grass flats on a private scalloping charter with gear, water, ice, and cleaned, bagged scallops provided.

About this tour

Set out from Crystal River for a private scalloping adventure along Florida’s Nature Coast. On this five-hour Crystal River Scalloping Charter, a local captain takes your group by boat to Gulf grass flats where you can snorkel and search for scallops.

The private 24-foot boat offers padded seating and full shade, while fins, snorkels, scallop bags, bottled water, and ice are provided. Spend time in the water exploring the shallow flats, then leave the cleanup to the crew: your scallops will be cleaned and bagged for you. With the boat reserved for your group, the outing offers a personal way to experience this hands-on coastal activity.

Snorkeling and shallow diving are required, and the ride back can sometimes be rough. Arrive at least 20 minutes early; parking at Pete’s Pier costs $10 per vehicle. Book your Crystal River Scalloping Charter and enjoy a day on the water with everything you need for the search.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 33 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Crystal River
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 8.4. Top 28% in Crystal River means it ranks in the top 28% of tours in Crystal River by this score.
