Fish from a heated Fairbanks cabin, sip hot cocoa, and watch the night sky for the aurora borealis.

About this tour

Spend five hours ice fishing beneath the Fairbanks night sky, with the chance to see the aurora borealis while you wait for a bite. A deluxe cabin with electric and wood heat offers a warm place to watch the sky and tend your line.

Your local guide provides fishing poles and bait, and you can enjoy hot cocoa and a grilled reindeer sausage on a bun during the outing. If you catch a fish, it will be seasoned and cooked for you. The experience suits all physical fitness levels, and bookings require at least two people. A fishing license is not included, but you can purchase one from the guide for $15 cash at the start of the tour. Transportation is also not included.

Contact the provider by email or phone the day before to confirm the updated meeting location. Settle into the cabin, cast your line, and keep an eye on the sky during this Fairbanks ice fishing and aurora viewing adventure.

How this score is calculated

This tour scores 4.94 on Viator and 4.68 on GetYourGuide. Ratings on these sites cluster near the top of the 5-star scale, so we compare each one with all other ratings on the same site before combining them.

How the score works and rating distribution in Fairbanks
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 8.5. Top 9% in Fairbanks means it ranks in the top 9% of tours in Fairbanks by this score.
