Ride a heated, amphibious Fat Truck through Fairbanks’ boreal forest, crossing rugged terrain with a guide and scenic photo stops.

About this tour

Explore Alaska’s boreal wilderness from the comfort of a heated, enclosed Fat Truck on this Fairbanks Fat Truck Tour. Built for Arctic terrain, the amphibious vehicle carries you across snow, mud, water, rolling hills, and rugged trails near Fairbanks, with towering spruce and birch trees framing the route.

Your guide shares insights into local wildlife, the boreal ecosystem, and life in Alaska’s far north. Scenic photo stops offer time to take in the wide-open Interior landscapes. The enclosed, heated cabin adds comfort as you travel through terrain that few visitors get to experience this way. Bottled water is provided, and the tour lasts 60 minutes.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 5 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Fairbanks
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.4. Top 39% in Fairbanks means it ranks in the top 39% of tours in Fairbanks by this score.
