Drive Florida’s A1A from Jacksonville Beach to Fort Matanzas with GPS-triggered stories, scenic stops, and the freedom to explore at your own pace.
About this tour
Set out from Jacksonville Beach and follow Florida’s A1A Scenic Highway toward Fort Matanzas, just south of Saint Augustine. This self-guided Jacksonville A1A Byway driving audio tour pairs an easy coastal drive with stories that bring the landscape and its past to life.
As you travel, take in white-sand beaches and historic architecture while GPS-triggered audio shares local tales of Florida’s flora, fauna, and history, including Saint Augustine’s devastating fire and the area’s days as the Winter Film Capital. Route maps, scenic stops, and area previews help you plan, while the app lets you pause for photos, hikes, picnics, or a closer look at a favorite view. There’s no group to keep pace with and no live guide; one purchase covers everyone in your car.
Download the tour in advance, then follow the suggested route or join anywhere along it. Once downloaded, the audio works offline, and lifetime access means you can revisit the stories or save the drive for another trip. Bring your car and phone, and discover the coast at your own pace with this Jacksonville A1A Byway tour.

How this score is calculated
This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.69 from 13 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.
How the score works and rating distribution in Jacksonville
- Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
- Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
- Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
- The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 6.9.
