About this tour

Discover Kauai’s landscapes and local stories on a full-day island tour that pairs a river cruise with visits to historic towns. A local guide connects the sights with narration as you travel in an air-conditioned vehicle.

Board Smith’s boat for a cruise along the Wailua River to Fern Grotto, then take in Opaekaa Falls and visit Kauai Coffee. Continue through Old Koloa, Hanapepe, and Historic Waimea Town, with free time to shop and choose your own lunch. Pickup and drop-off are available at select hotels between Poipu and Kapaa. Lunch is not included, and cruise port transfers are not provided.

From October 5, 2026, the temporary itinerary replaces Waimea Canyon and Spouting Horn. See Kauai by river and road, and enjoy a day shaped by its scenery, towns, and island stories.

How this score is calculated

This tour scores 4.57 on Viator and 4.69 on GetYourGuide. Ratings on these sites cluster near the top of the 5-star scale, so we compare each one with all other ratings on the same site before combining them.

How the score works and rating distribution in Kauai
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 5.6.
