Explore Ketchikan’s scenic and cultural landmarks on a small-group photo safari with local stories and tips for any camera.

About this tour

See Ketchikan through a local lens on a three-hour photo safari that pairs striking scenery with stories of Alaska. In a small group of 2–9 guests, travel with a professional photography guide to scenic and culturally significant locations around town, including Potlatch Park.

At the park, learn about Southeast Alaska Native culture, traditional totem poles, carving, symbolism, and the stories connecting people and place. Along the way, your guide shares practical photography tips you can use with a camera or smartphone. You don’t need photography experience, or even a camera, to enjoy the outing: the history and cultural context make this a rewarding introduction to Ketchikan and Alaska.

How this score is calculated

This tour scores 4.89 on Viator and 4.87 on GetYourGuide. Ratings on these sites cluster near the top of the 5-star scale, so we compare each one with all other ratings on the same site before combining them.

How the score works and rating distribution in Ketchikan
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 8.2. Top 22% in Ketchikan means it ranks in the top 22% of tours in Ketchikan by this score.
