Explore Revillagigedo Island from Ketchikan, searching for whales and wildlife aboard a fast, warm boat with snacks and drinks.

About this tour

Set out from Ketchikan for a wildlife search through the clear waterways around Revillagigedo Island. This private excursion pairs dramatic Southeast Alaska scenery with the chance to spot humpback whales, orcas, Dall’s porpoises, bears, deer, mink, mountain goats, otters, eagles, and waterfowl.

Travel aboard a warm, oversized NorthRiver offshore aluminum sportfishing boat powered by more than 500 horsepower. As you explore, your crew looks for wildlife, points out local landmarks, and leaves time to take photos. Binoculars help you scan the water and shoreline, while snacks and drinks make the ride more comfortable. Private transportation and an onboard restroom are also provided.

Meet at a location agreed upon with your group, generally Thomas Basin in Ketchikan. The operator offers several tour options to suit different levels of adventure. Choose a Ketchikan whales and wildlife excursion for a memorable way to experience the island’s waterways and wild residents.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.13 from 8 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Ketchikan
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 6.6.
