Explore Eltham Palace’s Art Deco rooms, medieval Great Hall, wartime bunker, and 19 acres of historic gardens at your own pace.

About this tour

Discover Eltham Palace, where bold Art Deco design meets the grandeur of a medieval royal residence. Explore the striking circular entrance hall, then take in the elegant panelled dining room and its geometric details. One of the palace’s most memorable rooms is Virginia Courtauld’s golden bathroom, featuring an onyx bath set in a glittering mosaic niche beneath the gaze of the goddess Psyche.

Step into the basement bunker to imagine life during the Blitz, then travel back centuries in the magnificent Great Hall, whose soaring hammer-beam roof was built for Edward IV. Once a favored royal palace, Eltham’s history reaches back to the Domesday Book. Outside, wander through 19 acres of historic gardens and enjoy a change of pace among the grounds.

An admission ticket lets you explore the palace and gardens at your own pace. Make Eltham Palace your next London-area escape and experience its remarkable mix of royal history, architectural drama, and garden scenery.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.39 from 36 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in London
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 5.9.
