Trace Jack the Ripper’s Whitechapel crimes with a costumed guide, then enjoy fish and chips at Poppies restaurant.

About this tour

Walk through the shadowy streets of Whitechapel on a London Jack the Ripper walking tour that pairs notorious crime sites with a classic fish-and-chip meal. Begin at Poppies Fish & Chip restaurant, where a meal is served just yards from a site connected to one of the murders. Then set off on a fast-paced walk through the area with a guide dressed as Jack the Ripper.

Hear gruesome details of the crimes as you visit murder sites, with only brief accounts of the victims. The tour ends with the most gruesome murder in the story and a review of possible suspects. Jack the Ripper was never caught, and the case has inspired theories about who he might have been. This 75-minute London Jack the Ripper walking tour offers a vivid way to explore Whitechapel’s history, followed by a meal at Poppies. Meet outside the White Hart and look for your guide’s Murder Express Tour sign. Join the walk to hear the story where it unfolded.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.40 from 5 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in London
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 6.8.
