Trace the surprising stories behind familiar nursery rhymes as a private guide leads you through London’s historic streets and landmarks.
About this tour
Nursery rhymes may sound innocent, but some began as coded stories about danger, politics, and everyday life. On this 3-hour London Nursery Rhyme Tour, follow their traces through the city’s historic streets and discover the surprising history behind the verses you may have known since childhood.
Your private guide leads you past some of London’s most famous buildings and into ancient lanes that many visitors overlook. Along the way, hear how people once disguised news and gossip in rhyme to avoid drawing the attention of informers and authorities. The stories connect familiar childhood songs with the places and events that inspired them, offering a fresh perspective on London’s past.
With a private guide and a route through quieter corners of the city, this walk pairs memorable history with a more intimate look at London. Choose the London Nursery Rhyme Tour to see the city through the stories hidden in its songs.

How this score is calculated
This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 1 review. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.
How the score works and rating distribution in London
- Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
- Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
- Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
- The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.1. Top 50% in London means it ranks in the top 50% of tours in London by this score.
