About this tour
Travel through centuries of London history from the comfort of a private black cab. On this 4-hour London Roman and medieval tour, an English-speaking driver-guide brings the city’s past to life with stories, local knowledge, and stops at historic sites.
Follow the route from the Roman Wall to the remains of a Roman amphitheater, then explore the area around the Tower of London, a World Heritage Site. Along the way, hear about Tower Hill’s execution history, the Great Fire of London, body snatchers, and the old gallows near Newgate Prison and the Old Bailey. The stories range from the city’s Roman beginnings to the darker chapters of its medieval streets.
Private transportation and central London hotel pickup and drop-off make it easy to focus on the sights and tales. How this score is calculated
This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 4 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.
How the score works and rating distribution in London
- Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
- Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
- Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
- The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.3. Top 33% in London means it ranks in the top 33% of tours in London by this score.
