Trace Hollywood’s history on a guided walk past iconic theaters, the Walk of Fame, and hidden landmarks, ending near the TCL Chinese Theatre.

About this tour

Hollywood’s story began long before the red carpets. On this Hollywood walking tour, trace the neighborhood’s roots back to the 1880s and learn how the early movie industry transformed a small farming town into a global symbol of cinema.

Walk past celebrated landmarks including the Walk of Fame, Capitol Records Building, Egyptian Theatre, Dolby Theatre, and TCL Chinese Theatre, where the tour ends. Along the way, discover lesser-known historic places, from Hollywood’s oldest house to the school attended by Charlie Chaplin’s children. Your guide connects the sights with the people and stories that shaped the area, bringing the city’s movie history into focus at street level.

The 120-minute Hollywood walking tour starts at the Pantages Theatre, opposite the Hollywood and Vine Metro Station. Arrive 10–15 minutes early, wear comfortable walking shoes, and enjoy a route that finishes near lunch options and spots for photographing the Hollywood Sign. Book your place and see Hollywood beyond the screen.

How this score is calculated

This tour scores 4.96 on Viator (GetYourGuide shows no usable rating). Ratings on these sites cluster near the top of the 5-star scale, so we compare each one with all other ratings on the same site before combining them.

How the score works and rating distribution in Los Angeles
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 8.0. Top 17% in Los Angeles means it ranks in the top 17% of tours in Los Angeles by this score.
