Cook a Lowcountry boil, make shrimp ceviche, and hear Shem Creek’s shrimping stories in a hands-on Charleston cooking class.
About this tour
Learn to make a classic Lowcountry boil beside the waters of Shem Creek, where Charleston’s shrimping heritage comes to life. In this hands-on Charleston shrimp boil cooking class, Captain Bryan shares stories from the local shrimping industry and guides you through a relaxed evening at a food trailer with wraparound bar seating.
Start with fresh shrimp ceviche made with local ingredients, then take part in a shrimp-peeling competition before preparing the main event. With Captain Bryan’s guidance, cook a Lowcountry boil featuring local shrimp, sausage, corn, and potatoes, seasoned for a hearty dinner. Bottled water and dinner are included, while alcoholic beverages are not.
This Charleston shrimp boil cooking class is for guests ages 21 and older. Guests with shellfish allergies or other dietary restrictions, sensitivities, or allergies should not join, as substitutions are unavailable. How this score is calculated
This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 41 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.
How the score works and rating distribution in Mount Pleasant
- Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
- Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
- Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
- The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 8.5. Top 12% in Mount Pleasant means it ranks in the top 12% of tours in Mount Pleasant by this score.
