Explore Marco Island’s history, shell mounds, and wildlife on a breezy safari truck ride with a scavenger hunt for kids.

About this tour

Climb aboard a roofed safari truck and see Marco Island from a fresh perspective. This 1-hour-and-30-minute Marco Island Safari Truck Tour pairs breezy island views with stories about the area’s history, famous homes, and transformation into a tourist destination in the 1960s.

Along the route, your guide points out historic sites, celebrity houses, and sprawling mansions. Step off the truck to explore an ancient shell mound and hold massive conch shells, then keep watch for burrowing owls, gopher tortoises, green iguanas, and birds of prey. Binoculars are included, and children can take part in an onboard scavenger hunt for landmarks and animals, with a prize at the end. Bottled water is provided in summer, and a blanket is available when it is cold.

The Marco Island Safari Truck Tour makes sightseeing engaging for curious travelers and families with children ages 2 and up. Arrive 5–10 minutes early, settle in, and get ready to laugh, learn, and explore the island from the road.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.96 from 134 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Naples
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 8.8. Top 12% in Naples means it ranks in the top 12% of tours in Naples by this score.
