Leave New Orleans behind for a private, flexible day among Louisiana’s bayous, wetlands, and Cajun communities with a local guide.

About this tour

Trade city streets for winding waterways on a private New Orleans bayou and swamp tour through southern Louisiana. With a local English-speaking driver-guide, you’ll explore wetlands, rural landscapes, and Cajun communities at a pace that suits your group.

The route is flexible: visit all planned stops or choose your favorites, then linger at scenic viewpoints for photos, short walks, or a closer look at the surroundings. Along the way, hear about the wetland ecosystem, cypress-lined waterways, native wildlife, and Cajun traditions shaped by life on the water. Your driver shares local stories and suggestions at each stop, though they do not accompany guests inside museums or archaeological areas.

Travel in a sedan for groups of up to four or a minivan for five to six, with city-center hotel pickup and drop-off, bottled water, and onboard Wi-Fi. Stop availability can vary with holidays, maintenance, and special events, so check opening hours ahead of time. Choose this New Orleans bayou and swamp tour for an easygoing day of Louisiana scenery, local insight, and room to explore your way.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. GetYourGuide rates it 4.41 from 1,139 reviews. We place that rating among all GetYourGuide ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in New Orleans
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 4.6.
