About this tour
Step into a world of magical inspiration at the Metropolitan Museum, where art, architecture, and mythical creatures invite a fresh look through a wizard’s eyes. The New York Magical Arts Museum Tour draws on a beloved book series about magic and wizards, while remaining an exploration of the museum’s own collections and spaces.
Over two hours, discover a castle-like setting and creatures that echo the stories, then join interactive activities and creative exercises along the way. All creative supplies are provided, so you can focus on exploring and imagining. The experience is recommended for ages 8 and up, and the museum is wheelchair accessible, with wheelchairs available on site.
Meet by the giant seated Pharaoh statue to the right of the information desk in the Great Hall. Reserve ahead, then enjoy a playful new perspective on the Metropolitan Museum. Please note that the museum contains no movie props or replicas, and the tour is not affiliated with the books’ authors, publishers, or film studio.

How this score is calculated
This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 20 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.
How the score works and rating distribution in New York City
- Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
- Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
- Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
- The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 8.0. Top 15% in New York City means it ranks in the top 15% of tours in New York City by this score.
