Trace Obama’s and Trump’s New York stories on a private walking tour with a local guide and a customizable itinerary.

About this tour

Follow the New York stories behind Barack Obama and Donald Trump on a private walking tour that connects the city to two very different paths to the White House. With a local guide leading the way, New York Political History Walking Tour brings their early lives and careers into focus through places tied to their time in the city.

Begin in Midtown Manhattan, where Obama once worked as a corporate journalist, then hear about Trump’s years learning the family construction business in Queens. Along the route, your guide shares stories about their childhoods, teenage years, families, and careers. The tour starts at the site of Trump’s 2015 presidential announcement and ends at Columbia University. Multiple start times are available, and the itinerary can be tailored to your preferences. Subway use is part of the walking tour, with a ticket allowance within $10. Your guide can also take photos along the way and offer advice for the rest of your New York visit.

Discover a personal side of the city’s history with New York Political History Walking Tour, and see how local places shaped two nationally known figures.

How this score is calculated

This tour has no TourTruth score yet: Viator doesn't show a usable rating for it. It gets a score as soon as a provider lists one.

How the score works
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10. Tours without a usable provider rating are not scored.
