Explore Joshua Tree’s night sky with an astronomer, telescopes, cozy blankets, and stories of constellations, planets, and the cosmos.

About this tour

Leave the glow of town behind and look up at the night sky in Joshua Tree. On this 2-hour Joshua Tree stargazing tour, an experienced astronomer helps you find north, spot seasonal triangles, and recognize constellations and planets. Laser-pointer stories bring ancient civilizations, Greek mythology, and the evolution of the cosmos into view.

Settle into a Yogibo lounger with a blanket and hot beverage, then explore the sky through telescopes and astro-binoculars. The telescopes are pre-programmed with the evening’s object list and simple keypad controls, making it easy to move from one celestial sight to the next. Depending on the night, you may see galaxies, nebulae, star clusters, double stars, planets, the Moon, or comets. The International Space Station and Starlink trains may also pass overhead when timing allows.

The remote site has no cell service or bathroom facilities, so download your directions before setting out. Transportation is not included. Join this Joshua Tree stargazing tour for a guided night beneath a remarkable desert sky.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.88 from 187 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Palm Springs
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.9. Top 30% in Palm Springs means it ranks in the top 30% of tours in Palm Springs by this score.
