Explore the Louvre’s masterpieces on a private Paris tour with an artist-guide, and uncover the stories behind the Mona Lisa.

About this tour

See the Louvre through an artist’s eyes on a private Paris Louvre art tour led by an Irish artist and specialist decorator who has worked as a Paris museum guide for 10 years. In two hours, uncover the stories behind the Mona Lisa and explore the museum’s Sully and Denon wings with a guide who brings its celebrated collection to life.

Meet beside the Louis XIV sculpture near the Pyramid, then discover the Renaissance palace and works spanning ancient Greece and Rome through the Renaissance and beyond. Highlights include the Venus de Milo and paintings by Botticelli, Veronese, Titian, David, Géricault, and Delacroix. Headphones and audio receivers help you follow the commentary as you move through the galleries. With a maximum of six guests, this private visit offers room to focus on the details and questions that interest you.

Contact the guide before booking to confirm ticket availability; advance notice of at least two days is recommended, especially in high season. Museum and group reservation tickets are included, though the reservation ticket is non-refundable. Book your Paris Louvre art tour for a more personal encounter with the collection.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 7 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Paris
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.5. Top 24% in Paris means it ranks in the top 24% of tours in Paris by this score.
