Trace Paris’s medieval roots on Île de la Cité, visiting Sainte-Chapelle, the Conciergerie, and Notre-Dame with a guide.

About this tour

Follow the story of Paris from its medieval beginnings on Île de la Cité, where Gothic architecture, royal power, and dramatic history meet. This 3-hour Paris Medieval Paris Walking Tour visits Sainte-Chapelle, the Conciergerie, and Notre-Dame Cathedral, with a Cluny Middle Ages Museum visit during Conciergerie closures.

Begin with a detailed visit inside Sainte-Chapelle, celebrated for its beauty, then hear stories of the Conciergerie, once a royal palace and later a prison. Continue to Notre-Dame, an iconic landmark and birthplace of Gothic art. The tour meets outside Cité metro station on Line 4, and a guide wearing a Toorers badge will be waiting. Notre-Dame is free to enter, but this guided experience is independent of access to its interior; visitors can reserve a free time slot or walk in, though queues may be long at busy times.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 24 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Paris
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 8.1. Top 10% in Paris means it ranks in the top 10% of tours in Paris by this score.
