Paris Montmartre Women in Art Walking Tour

Montmartre’s cobbled lanes hold more than postcard views and famous artists’ studios. On this 120-minute Paris Montmartre Women in Art Walking Tour, uncover the women whose work and determination helped shape the careers of artists such as Van Gogh, Picasso, and Matisse. Hear about Johanna, Van Gogh’s sister-in-law, who devoted herself to promoting his art after his death, and Berthe Weill, whose influence helped bring artists to public attention.

Walk the hillside streets where these women once lived and worked, and discover how a rural village became one of Paris’s most distinctive bohemian neighborhoods. Along the way, stories of Moulin Rouge cabaret dancers and 19th-century revolutionaries add unexpected color to Montmartre’s history. Pause at a woman-owned Middle Eastern pâtisserie to try one of its best-selling confections. A licensed in-person guide leads the walk, with time set aside for stops and the route between them.

See Montmartre through the lives of the women who helped make its artistic legacy. Join this Paris Montmartre Women in Art Walking Tour and explore the neighborhood one story at a time.
