Explore Notre-Dame’s Gothic exterior, Île de la Cité, and Seine views on a guided 90-minute outdoor walk through historic Paris.
About this tour
Discover the stories behind Notre-Dame Cathedral on a 90-minute outdoor walk through the heart of Paris. With a guide leading the way, admire the Gothic landmark from outside and hear about its architecture, long history, the 2019 fire, and ongoing restoration.
Continue across Île de la Cité, where the Seine frames the island’s historic streets and riverside views. Along the route, pass Shakespeare and Company, the celebrated bookstore associated with literary figures such as Hemingway. This Paris Notre-Dame Cathedral Walking Tour focuses on the cathedral’s exterior and nearby sights, offering context and local stories without relying on interior access. The cathedral itself is free to enter, while the guided tour is a separate service. If you plan to go inside, follow the dress code: cover your shoulders and wear shorts or skirts that reach the knee.
Meet opposite Café Panis at 21 Quai de Montebello, near RER B. Join the walk to see Notre-Dame and its surroundings through the stories that bring this corner of Paris to life.

How this score is calculated
This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.86 from 591 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.
How the score works and rating distribution in Paris
- Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
- Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
- Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
- The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.8. Top 16% in Paris means it ranks in the top 16% of tours in Paris by this score.
