Explore Verdun’s battlefield, Fort de Douaumont, and memorial sites on a private day trip from Paris with a French-speaking guide.
About this tour
Travel from Paris to the hills and villages of Verdun on a private tour that brings the landscape of the First World War into view. Shell holes, trenches, ruined villages, and concrete casemates still mark the ground where fierce battles took place in 1916 and 1917.
Ride in an air-conditioned minivan with a French-speaking driver-guide and your private group. At Fort de Douaumont, explore underground galleries and see the 155 mm retractable cannon beneath its armored dome. Continue to the National Military Necropolis and Douaumont Ossuary to honor the French soldiers who fell in the surrounding hills. At the Verdun Memorial Museum, the terrace opens onto a panorama of the battlefield, adding context to the sites you have visited.
Admission to the fort and museum is included, along with private transportation and pickup support at residences in Paris and the Paris region. Lunch is not included. Discover the history and enduring landscape of Verdun on this private Paris Verdun Battlefield tour.

How this score is calculated
This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.00 from 4 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.
How the score works and rating distribution in Paris
- Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
- Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
- Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
- The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 6.8.
