Explore the women who shaped Montmartre’s artistic past and discover how they continue to influence this lively Paris neighborhood today.
About this tour
Montmartre’s artistic legacy is often told through the men who painted, wrote, and performed here. This walking tour brings women’s stories into view, following the artists, rebels, and cultural figures who helped shape the neighborhood, often without receiving equal recognition. The walk begins outside the Musée de la Vie Romantique, where you can spot your guide by a tote bag marked “HERA walking tours.” Over two hours, connect the district’s creative past with its present. Along the way, hear about ambition, freedom, resilience, and transformation, then discover how women continue to shape Montmartre through independent businesses, creative projects, and cultural spaces. The result is a fresh perspective on one of Paris’s most iconic neighborhoods, grounded in the people and ideas that keep it evolving. Join this Paris Women of Montmartre walking tour to see beyond familiar legends and explore the women who helped make the district what it is today.

How this score is calculated
This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.95 from 19 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.
How the score works and rating distribution in Paris
- Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
- Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
- Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
- The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.7. Top 17% in Paris means it ranks in the top 17% of tours in Paris by this score.
