Explore Versailles with a former château worker who brings Louis XIV’s world, palace history, and behind-the-scenes stories to life.

About this tour

Discover Versailles with a guide who spent five years working at the château and knows its stories from the inside. On this private Versailles guided tour, the palace becomes more than a grand collection of rooms: its history, art, and behind-the-scenes tales bring the world of Louis XIV to life.

Your guide shares a personal connection to the place and its people, offering a fresh perspective on the royal setting and the grandeur of the Sun King’s era. The experience lasts four hours and includes a guided tour. Tickets and gratuities are not included, so plan for those separately. The tour is wheelchair accessible, and public transportation is available nearby; travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 8 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Paris
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.5. Top 22% in Paris means it ranks in the top 22% of tours in Paris by this score.
