Ride Rome’s Appian Way at your own pace, passing ancient tombs and ruins with a bike rental and suggested routes through the park.

About this tour

Explore Rome’s Appian Way by bike, where ancient history lines a route of cobblestones, tombs, and monumental ruins. This rental gives you the freedom to discover the Appian Way Regional Park at your own pace, with recommended itineraries to guide your ride or the option to make your own route.

Pedal past mausoleums, burial mounds, and remnants of Ancient Rome, imagining the emperors, centurions, and patricians who once traveled this historic road. Bikes are available for children and adults, and the rental includes a helmet, lock, wheel pump, and a baby seat for children up to 20 kg. Keep in mind that the route is cobbled, so some confidence on a bike is helpful.

To reach the starting point by public transit, take Metro A to Arco di Travertino and continue on bus 660. Set out to experience Rome’s Appian Way by bike and explore this remarkable landscape on your own terms.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.58 from 137 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 5.7.
