Explore Rome’s Capuchin Crypts, where six striking chambers reveal the history, faith, and artistry behind a remarkable burial site.
About this tour
Step into the Capuchin Crypts, a remarkable underground site where art, faith, and history meet. This Rome Capuchin Crypts and Museum tour lets you explore a long corridor and six chambers decorated with the bones of around 3,700 Capuchin friars. Choose an audio guide or, if available with your selected option, a guided tour to learn about the friars’ vision of life, death, and eternity. See the Crypt of the Three Skeletons, the Crypt of the Tibiae and Femurs, the Crypt of the Pelvis, and the Crypt of the Skulls, each with its own striking arrangements of bones and remains. The earth beneath the crypts is said to have been brought from Palestine, possibly Jerusalem. Add a Pantheon entrance ticket and app audio guide if you select that option. Keep in mind that the Pantheon closes on Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings, so plan an optional visit around those hours. Discover a singular side of Rome with a visit to the Capuchin Crypts and Museum.

How this score is calculated
This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 3.92 from 12 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.
How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
- Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
- Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
- Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
- The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 6.4.
