Learn Caravaggio-inspired light and shadow in a Roman atelier, then take home your own painting from this hands-on art class.

About this tour

Step into a cozy Roman atelier and discover how Caravaggio used light and shadow to make a scene feel alive. This 120-minute Rome Caravaggio Painting Class pairs practical instruction with a creative glimpse into the city’s artistic soul.

With guidance from a professional artist, work through the painting process using a canvas, brushes, palette, and paints. Aprons and napkins are provided, and you’ll leave with your finished artwork to take home. No experience is needed to enjoy the chance to slow down, experiment with dramatic contrasts, and make something personal in Rome.

Want to connect your own work with the masters? Choose the optional guided visit to Villa Farnesina or Castel Sant’Angelo. Hotel pickup and drop-off are not included, and the meeting point is the laboratory. Book your Rome Caravaggio Painting Class and spend two hours seeing the city through an artist’s eye.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 1 review. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.1. Top 48% in Rome means it ranks in the top 48% of tours in Rome by this score.
