Rome Castel Sant’Angelo Ticket With Audio Guide 2 hr

Discover Rome’s layered past inside Castel Sant’Angelo, a landmark that has stood beside the Tiber for nearly two millennia. Built in the 2nd century AD as Emperor Hadrian’s family mausoleum, it later became a fortress, papal residence, political prison, and museum. A reserved ticket and skip-the-line entrance make it easier to begin exploring, while an audio guide app brings the site’s changing roles and stories to life. The castle’s name recalls a legend from 590, when Pope Gregory the Great is said to have seen the Archangel Michael sheathing his sword, a sign that the plague had ended. As you make your way through the historic complex, discover its close ties to the papacy and its strategic position near St. Peter’s Basilica. At the top, pause for sweeping views over the Tiber, Rome’s rooftops, and St. Peter’s Basilica. Your ticket includes the audio guide app, but not a device, so bring one to use it. Choose this Rome Castel Sant’Angelo visit for an engaging look at the city’s history and a memorable panorama from above.
