Explore the Colosseum’s first and second levels on a guided Rome visit filled with stories of gladiators, emperors, and ancient spectacles.

About this tour

Step into the Colosseum and picture the crowds, gladiators, and emperors who once filled its tiers. On this 60-minute Rome Colosseum Guided Tour, a guide brings the ancient amphitheater’s history and architecture to life as you explore its first and second levels.

Your visit focuses on the Colosseum itself, with stories and historical details that help make sense of this landmark’s scale and legacy. The guided experience includes admission and access to both levels. The Arena Floor, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill are not part of this tour, so you can concentrate on the monument at its heart. Meet the staff outside the Basilica of Santi Cosma e Damiano on Via dei Fori Imperiali, then allow time for check-in and mandatory security screening before entering.

Choose this Rome Colosseum Guided Tour for a focused introduction to one of the city’s defining sights. Bring matching photo identification, wear comfortable walking shoes, and arrive early to make the most of your visit.

How this score is calculated

This tour has no TourTruth score yet: Viator doesn't show a usable rating for it. It gets a score as soon as a provider lists one.

How the score works
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10. Tours without a usable provider rating are not scored.
