Explore the Colosseum’s first and second levels with a licensed guide, then discover the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill at your own pace.

About this tour

Step into the Colosseum and picture the roar of the crowd as gladiators entered the arena. On this 90-minute Rome Colosseum tour, a licensed local guide leads a semi-private group through the monument’s first and second levels, sharing stories of its history, engineering, and place in ancient Roman life. Your entrance ticket is included, and headsets are provided when required so you can follow the commentary clearly.

After the guided visit, you can explore the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill independently at your own pace. This combination offers expert context inside the Colosseum and time to continue discovering the surrounding ancient sites on your own. The meeting point is a short walk from Colosseo Metro Station, on Via del Cardello at number 31.

Bring a valid ID and arrive 30 minutes before the start time; participant names must match booking details. Book your Rome Colosseum tour for a focused introduction to one of the city’s most iconic landmarks.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.67 from 3 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.0.
