Explore the Colosseum arena floor, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill at your own pace with entry tickets and an audio guide app.

About this tour

Explore ancient Rome on a self-guided visit that takes you from the Colosseum’s arena floor to the storied grounds of the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. With entry to all three sites and an audio guide app, you can follow the history at your own pace, pausing to take in the details and revisit the stories that catch your interest.

Your Colosseum tour includes an arena entrance ticket and a reservation fee. Rather than following a private guide, use the app to shape your visit around the places and moments you want to explore. The experience is wheelchair accessible, and strollers and service animals are allowed. Public transportation is available nearby. A moderate level of physical fitness is recommended, and the visit is not recommended for pregnant travelers.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 3.38 from 8 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 6.6.
