About this tour

Climbing the dome of Saint Peter’s Basilica is a Roman experience that stays with you long after you return to ground level. This 120-minute visit pairs a dome climb with a chance to appreciate the architecture and history of Michelangelo’s masterpiece. Skip-the-line access helps you avoid the long queues, leaving more time to focus on the basilica and the climb. A mobile ticket keeps your admission details close at hand, and an English-speaking live guide is listed among the tour details, though guided tour service is also listed as excluded. Expect a physical outing: travelers should have at least a moderate fitness level, and the climb is not recommended for those with spinal injuries, pregnancy, or poor cardiovascular health. How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 2 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.2. Top 40% in Rome means it ranks in the top 40% of tours in Rome by this score.
