Explore Rome’s landmarks and hidden corners with a private local guide, plus a local drink or snack on this three-hour city walk.

About this tour

See Rome through a local’s eyes on a private walk that pairs celebrated landmarks with quieter corners and neighborhood character. Over three hours, your guide shares stories and local insight as you explore the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, and Trastevere. Landmark visits are from the outside, so you can take in the architecture and atmosphere without entrance tickets. A local drink or snack adds a relaxed pause along the way.

With a private guide, the experience is just for your group, with room to focus on the details and stories that interest you. The tour is carbon-neutral and supports local guides and produce. Meet at Piazza di Sant’Apollinare for the 3-hour Private Highlights Tour; hotel pickup and drop-off are not included. Choose this Rome Highlights and Hidden Gems Private Tour for a personal introduction to the city, then set out ready to explore more on your own.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.91 from 378 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 8.4. Top 8% in Rome means it ranks in the top 8% of tours in Rome by this score.
