See Rome’s ancient landmarks and Vatican treasures on a private 9-hour shore excursion with port pickup and return.

About this tour

Discover Rome’s celebrated landmarks on a full-day private shore excursion from Civitavecchia. Your English-speaking driver picks you up at the port and takes you into the city, beginning at Piazza Venezia, home to the striking Victor Emmanuel II Monument, often called the Wedding Cake.

See the remains of ancient Rome, including the Roman Forum, Colosseum, Circus Maximus, Capitoline Hill, Palatine Hill, and Baths of Caracalla. Continue through the historic center to the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, the Spanish Steps, and Trevi Fountain. The itinerary also allows time for lunch and shopping; lunch is not included.

In the afternoon, visit Vatican City and explore the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel with skip-the-line tickets purchased from the official Vatican website. The tour also includes a visit to St. Peter’s Basilica, before your driver returns you to the pier. Private transportation, onboard Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and bottled water make it easy to cover Rome’s highlights in one day. How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 17 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.9. Top 14% in Rome means it ranks in the top 14% of tours in Rome by this score.
