Explore Rome’s main sights on a private Mercedes day trip from Civitavecchia, with an English-speaking driver and ship-side pickup.

About this tour

See Rome’s celebrated sights on a private day trip from Civitavecchia, with pickup right in front of your cruise ship. Your English-speaking driver meets you holding a sign with your name, then takes you into the city in a private Mercedes. An early 7:30 am departure is planned to help avoid heavy traffic during the first part of the morning.

Spend the day exploring Rome’s main attractions at your own pace, with live commentary from your driver while you’re in the vehicle. This is a driving tour rather than a guided visit on foot: the driver cannot explain attractions once outside the vehicle, and admission tickets and an official guide are not included. The nine-hour outing is scheduled to return to the port at 4:30 pm, with pickup and drop-off under the ship.

Plan ahead if you hope to visit the Vatican Museums, which are closed on Sundays. Choose this Rome private tour from Civitavecchia for a convenient way to reach the capital and see its highlights before returning to your ship.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 1 review. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.1. Top 48% in Rome means it ranks in the top 48% of tours in Rome by this score.
