Leave Rome’s busiest sights behind on a six-hour private tour with hotel pickup, an English-speaking driver, a local guide, and catacombs admission.

About this tour

Step away from Rome’s busiest sights and explore a quieter side of the city on a private outing with an English-speaking driver. Your driver meets you at your hotel in the morning, then takes you beyond the city center to discover places that offer a different perspective on Rome. The tour lasts six hours and includes private transportation, a local guide, and admission to the catacombs. Hotel pickup and drop-off make it easy to begin and end the day without arranging your own transport. Rome Private Tour with Driver pairs the freedom of a private vehicle with the insight of a guide, while leaving food, drinks, and gratuities for you to arrange separately. Some monuments may be under restoration during the Jubilee, and the provider may send updates about changes. Choose Rome Private Tour with Driver for a more personal way to see Rome beyond its most touristed places.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.91 from 47 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.9. Top 15% in Rome means it ranks in the top 15% of tours in Rome by this score.
