Solve Balthasar’s murder as you decode clues, question digital witnesses, and explore Rome’s historic center at your own pace.
About this tour
Turn Rome’s historic center into a crime scene in this self-guided murder mystery game. The case: the murder of Balthasar. Clues lie in plain sight as you explore the streets around landmarks including the Capitoline Museum, Roman Forum, Pantheon, and Arch of Constantine.
Follow the app, decode messages, photograph suspicious details, and question digital witnesses whose stories do not quite add up. Each puzzle you solve removes a name from the suspect list, bringing you closer to the final answer hidden somewhere in central Rome. With a 120-minute game and no tour guide, you can investigate at your own pace while discovering the city along the way.
Play as a couple, bring the children, or split into teams and turn the case into a friendly race. Start at the designated meeting point, open the game, and see if your team can solve the mystery. Make this Rome self-guided murder mystery game your next city adventure.

How this score is calculated
This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.00 from 1 review. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.
How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
- Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
- Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
- Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
- The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.0.
